Introduction To Pyrography
Hi,
I'm guessing that seems you are here that you are looking to start or for more information about Pyrography or Wood-Burning.
Well, I hope that any information I can give will help. But like with all arts, It not a matter of do it this way and you will succeed. It's a matter of try doing like this and see where that takes you. It may work or may not. But you will find your way of doing it, you just need a bit of guidance to make a start. I will brake down each and every part of Pyrography down into separate parts, to make it easy to find what exactly you need/require help with.
But for now, I will talk about how Pyrography is a very rewarding art. But also a very testing. You can spend hours and hours on a piece, then realise you may have taken a different approach to get a "Better" outcome. It's an art that if you make a mistake, you can't just rub it out and start again. Once you have burned, you have two choices:
1) Improvise and adapted where you have made the mistake. Maybe change what the image is or go with the mistake and make something new/different.
2)Scrap/File the mistake off. This will make correcting the mistake difficult but not impossible. Just means the wood is not as smooth/flat to the image may dip and look a bit different. But correcting the mistake is still possible.
But everyone had there way of correcting a mistake, these are just the two I personally use. I work primary with the theme of nature and animals, so unfortunately can't give much advised on how to burn things like plants and objects. But hope the advise I can give can be used to help anyone looking to burn any image.
Once, you have the basics of burning. the only way is up. I have been burning since early 2019, I can see over the years where I have learned new technecs and better way of creating images. It's the moments when you step back and see how far you have come. From burning basic patterns to side by side of King and Queen of the Jungle (Lion Couple). Between us, I genuinely felt sick with joy and excitement, when I finally found a way to burn a lion/lioness. I was a major mile stone for me, for years I had tried and tried, never worked. The none day said I would try one last time, So I took my time and broke down ever miler meter of the image. Then bit by bit I started to come together. Finally, I have done it. A Lioness, Now lets take it a step further. A lion. You know what I did it.
So it's those little victors that make it worth every moment. It's not about make a masterpiece, making millions of pound or the fame. It's ALL about those little achievements. Those little goals and miles stone. Knowing that If I die tomorrow, That I tried my best and finally got there.
Thank you for read and I hope I have inspired you to take up or try Pyrography. I would mean the world if anything I say has helped, If would could message/ DM me. Just to tell me how you get on with your burning. Or even if you have any questions, I will try my best to answer any questions you have.
All the best,
Joshua.
