Extra Business Information
What Wood Do You Use?
Working with any woods over the years, I have found some work and other will never.
Works:
Sycamore:
My Personal Favourite, due to how easy to prep and due to its light colour the burn is brought out more.
Split Birch:
Due to the split (Mould in the wood grain) create an amazing background naturally.
Struggle To Work:
Pine:
The grain is very coarse and makes burning and filing hard. Due to creating indents and dips.
Cedar:
Not bad for burning, but due to my work being finer details. It's hard to get smooth filing lines and building finer detail.
Where Do You Get Your Wood?
All sourced within a 30 mile radius of the Studio. In order to and keep my carbon foot print as low as I can.
What Equipment Do You Use?
Developing and adding to the collection of equipment over the years.
But at present, I use:
Razortip SL1: For the Primary Burning
Fine Wood Files: To etch the finer details out
Dremel Blowtorch: To create a smooth effect or add extra depth of tone
Sports Mask: For Respiratory Protection
Basic Hand Saw: To cut the wood
Random Orbit Sander: Using 60 Git to remove any paint, dirt or pencil/Pen lines.
Sandpaper: Ranging from 40 to 3,000 Grit, to get the best texture to burn on and to get a better depth of the wood I use.
